ONE BUSINESS OWNER TO ANOTHER
Good work starts with understanding what matters to you.
Your business is personal. The collaboration should be, too.
I’m James Finley, founder of Velvet Oak LLC. I’m building Velvet Oak Digital to work with other business owners who care deeply about what they do.
You bring the knowledge of your customers and your day-to-day work. I bring a focus on turning that knowledge into a website or app that feels natural to use. We work directly together, from the first conversation through the decisions that shape the product.

A CLEAR PATH FORWARD
Start with a conversation. Build with a plan.
01
Understand
Start with the customer or team task you want to improve. We’ll look at what works today and where people get stuck.
02
Explore
Review an early design or clickable concept so you can react to something tangible before the full build.
03
Define
Agree on the features, responsibilities, timeline, and quote. Separate the first release from ideas that can come later.
04
Build & support
Build and review the experience together, then prepare for launch with a clear handoff and an agreed support plan.
BEFORE WE BEGIN
A few practical questions, answered.
What will my project cost?
The quote depends on what we’re building, how it connects to your existing software, and the level of support you need. We’ll identify the essentials first and separate build costs from recurring services such as hosting, email, and third-party tools.
Can we start with something small?
Yes. A focused website or a single useful app workflow can be the first release. We’ll decide what delivers value now and what can wait, then agree on the scope before development begins.
Can you connect to the software we already use?
We’ll check the provider’s integration options, access requirements, and fees before promising a connection. Your existing systems help determine what is practical and what belongs in the quote.
What happens after launch?
Before work begins, we’ll agree on account and source-code ownership, handoff, and the support arrangement. Ongoing maintenance and future improvements will have a defined scope and cost.
LET’S MAKE SOMETHING USEFUL
Let’s talk about what you want to build.
Tell me what your business does, who will use the website or app, and what you’d like to make easier. An early idea is enough to start.
